Paintings by Laurel Sherrie on View: “Visual Vignettes, Point Buchon”
Where: SLO Provisions in San Luis Obispo, CA
When: July 5 – 31, 2023

From the organizers:

Although there are some large paintings in this exhibit, they are mere “vignettes” compared to the breathtaking panoramic grandeur of this pristine trail. If you have been there, you know, but whether you’ve been or not, you’re invited to come to SLO Provisions and experience Laurel’s painted interpretations of this pristine rugged shoreline with those mesmerizing cliffs and sea stack formations. She spent considerable time painting the Point Buchon Trail over a period of 2 years, returning again and again to paint on site.

Laurel paints landscapes of treasured places, sharing her joy in Central Coast light and scenes. Her work is known for rich color using traditional oils, lots of paint and for involving viewers as they recognize the scenes from their own memories while experiencing her color-filled interpretations. She has shown her work around SLO County for many years. Her work can be found in public collections in Glendale, CA, and Birmingham, MI, and she has nine pieces in the Cottage Hospital Healing Arts Project, in Santa Barbara, CA.
