After studying graphic design in art school and pursuing a career in that field in New York and then San Francisco, Timothy Horn eventually discovered painting and felt he finally found his calling. Based in Northern California, he has been painting full time since 2006, has won numerous awards, and is a signature member of both Oil Painters of America and the California Art Club. He participates in a handful of plein air events, is currently represented by five galleries, and teaches painting workshops around the country and abroad.
This painting, “Field of Dreams” is of a scene he came across in Wisconsin during the Door County Plein Air Festival. “To me it seemed the perfect set up — two strong structural elements, set in a field of gold and green, dotted with Queen Anne’s lace in the foreground. And the beautiful clouds in a pure blue sky add some drama and offer a bit of perspective and depth, eventually pulling you into the distance.”
