Kelly Kane’s Pick of the Week: Low Tide Magic
“In January, the moon’s gravitational pull creates especially high and low tides along the California Coast. To capture the magical effects, my buddy Ray Roberts joined me for a few days in La Jolla, where our goal was to paint as many 9 x 12-inch sketches as possible. We made our first stop in front of the Marine Room at La Jolla Shores, where low tide revealed amazing treasures — rocks, sand, and tidal pools — in a spectrum of color. The sun glaring off the water paired with the mist created by the waves made the scene even more dramatic.”
