In this weekly series Kelly Kane, Editor-in-Chief of Plein Air Magazine, shares a favorite painting and artist quote from a recent issue.

Kelly Kane’s Pick of the Week: “Raquette River, Late Summer”

“In general, a change of scenery brings benefits in the way of a new perspective, which in turn opens the door to trying different materials, techniques, styles, and composition ideas. For anyone not from the Upper Hudson or Adirondacks area, the landscape is likely to seem more dramatic than most. The added drama along with the simple fact that it is a new or unfamiliar landscape will likely challenge your skills — which should lead to improvement. As they say, no pain, no gain.”
— Tony Conner, “In the Footsteps of the Hudson River School”
