We love to hear from the Plein Air Today community! The following is part of a series that spotlights an artist who loves painting outdoors. Today’s feature is on Shokoufeh Shadabi.

“I’ve been taking painting classes, starting with color theory, then drawing, pencil, oil painting, watercolor, and oil pastel, since I was five. I have had the opportunity to learn from many great art instructors; my latest one was Stefan Baumann, from whom I took private lessons during Covid.

“I paint stamp-size (1×1.5-inch) oil pastel paintings, some of which take up to eleven hours. I’ve sold more than 60 of them since 2020 and have collectors around the world.

“I am American with Persian descent and my family was in the business of miniature paintings on pottery. I’ve been influenced by many master painters such as Constable, Stubbs, Rembrandt, and Sargent, so I combine miniature and landscape paintings into my own way of expression: miniature landscapes.”
