Painting Winter in the Midwest

Minnesota artist Carl Cedergren recently sent us photographs of himself painting on a frozen river around Pine County. We found his paintings appealing, but chilling!

Carl Cedergren studied landscape painting with Joseph Paquet in St. Paul, Minnesota, and became enthusiastic about painting outdoors, even under blizzard conditions. He sometimes paints with his easel sitting on the tailgate of his truck, and other times with that easel set up along a frozen lake. “The lakes are beautiful and great to paint,” he reports, “but the wind can be fierce and people sometimes fall through the ice, especially on heavy snowmobiles.” For more information, visit him on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ccedergren1?fref=ts).
