The stage of the auditorium at the Monterey Conference Center was the location of informative demonstrations and lectures during the Plein Air Convention & Expo. Michael Godfrey, Gil Dellinger, Lori Putnam, and Skip Whitcomb joined the other masters to demonstrate painting techniques. Meanwhile, other demonstrations, including Brenda Swenson, Erik Koeppel, Kathleen Dunphy, Brenda Boylan, Carl Judson, and Alexey Steele, were being offered on a stage set up near the art-materials exhibitors.
Many of the exhibitors offered discounts on supplies for plein air painters, and several companies introduced brand-new products, such as Gamblin’s Solvent-Free Gel medium, made of safflower oil and alkyd painting medium.
