Wade Koniakowsky works on a building during last year’s event.

North of Padre Island, on Texas’s Gulf Coast, is a long barrier island named Mustang, and on it is a town of 4,000 people named Port Aransas. Painters will have a chance to depict this beautiful setting in October.

The Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association and the Port Aransas Museum are hosting the Coastal Paint Out from October 16 through 19. The public is welcome to bring easels and paint alongside invited artists, who will be the subject of an exhibition on October 19 at the Port Aransas Community Center. There will also be a quick draw competition. All sales benefit the Port Aransas Museum and Farley Boat Works. Rusty Jones is offering a plein air workshop prior to the paint-out, October 14-16.
