The John Natsoulas Center for the Arts is offering a plein air workshop that culminates in a one-day show at the gallery in Davis, California, on Sept. 21. Can workshops help painters in business as well as in the painting process?

Participants pay a $25 registration fee and then sit in on demonstrations and instruction from several professional artists, including Phillipe Gandiol and Mike Bagdonas. A silent auction will be held at the end of the day, with one to three paintings juried in to the show and auction from each participant. Artists will keep 50 percent of the sale price. Selected pieces will appear in a printed catalog. They’re calling it the Great California Paint Out. For more information, visit the John Natsoulas Center for the Arts website.
