“My attraction to the dunes of Carmel Beach was immediate. It was my first visit to paint in the Carmel Plein Air Event in 2006. Upon setting foot out on the dunes, I knew what I would be painting…and have been ever since. The natural undulation of the sand flecked with a variety of
vegetation results in perfect composition. No matter the direction I face, I am met with a compelling scene.”
Dune Blooms was one such scene made even more compelling by the presence of the luscious pink and violet blooms. It appeared in the American Impressionist Society 2020 Online exhibition and received a top award from Dakota Pastel in their 2020 Established Artist Category. Most recently it was awarded Best Pastel in the October PleinAir Salon.
Terri’s mantra “Deeper, Darker, Richer” has helped her create vibrant, luminous works in a relaxed, impressionistic style. She prefers the landscape both in the studio and plein air but is also entranced by historic architecture like old adobe, backroad barns or the bridges of Paris. She was the first recipient of Eminent Pastelist Status by the International Association of Pastel Societies and is a Master Pastelist with Pastel Society of America. She was Guest of Honneur of Art du Pastel France in 2017.
