Kelly Kane’s Pick of the Week: Ediza Shoreline
“Ediza is an exquisite jewel in the Ritter Range with grand views of Mt. Ritter and Banner Peak, both ‘14ers’ [14,000-foot peaks]. The rewards are endless, with dramatic views as soon as you roll out of your tent. I was often hard-pressed to decide what to paint first. Do I try to capture the blush of pink light on the Minarets and glaciers as the sun climbs up and over the granite walls, or the sun exploding through the pines and glinting off the crystal-clear lake water? Do I paint the entire grand view, or an abstract slice of granite boulders? I wouldn’t have needed to leave camp to find enough inspiring subject matter for the entire week.”
