Suzie Baker: An Abiding Passion for Painting

I attended my first Plein Air Convention & Expo in 2014. I quickly signed up after getting into my first plein air event. What better place, I thought, to give myself a crash course in preparing for plein air events than PACE?

I showed up ready to sponge up as much information as I could absorb and hopefully make some contacts. I came toting my portfolio of works loaded onto my iPad, my website freshened-up, plus a newly minted business card and, boy, was I glad I came prepared. Some doors opened, and I was able to mosey right through them. It is no exaggeration to say that my investment in attending PACE paid off at least tenfold! I haven’t missed a year since.

I love so much about PACE: the vibe on the vendor floor (where I’m happy to spend more money than I planned, stocking up on deals), catching up with friends who share the same abiding passion for painting as me, watching my favorite artists paint, and getting out to paint right alongside them.

I hope you will join me this year as I present on the Oil Painting Side Stage in San Francisco this April.
