If you’re in the area of Crested Butte, Colorado, through August 12, you’ll have the opportunity to view a selection of works by Dave Santillanes at Oh Be Joyful Gallery. Santillanes earned an Honorable Mention in the 7th Annual PleinAir Salon for his landscape painting titled “Desert Bouquet.”

Santillanes’ signature style incorporates soft edges and atmospheric perspective in sophisticated, elegant compositions. In this show, we are privileged to have several small studies that inspired his larger show pieces, giving the viewer a glimpse into his creative process.
Santillanes has received much recognition in the past year, including awards from the American Impressionist Society and PleinAir Salon. His recent successes make his work in high demand and we are very proud to offer you this latest round of 18 of Santillanes’ newest paintings.
“I wanted the work for this show to be about more than merely rendering a landscape,” Santillanes said. “Instead, my goal is to describe the entire experience of that particular moment — whether it was about sitting next to a waterfall for a couple of hours or hearing an elk in the stillness of evening light. In order to achieve this, painting on location is critical — and it’s where the story of each of these studio pieces truly began.”
