From the Association:

“From Study to Studio” will use an original and fresh art show format which highlights the beginning to end process that artists use to create their art — from original concept (plein air studies) to final completion. This unique exhibit was an idea that originated with our plein air artist members as a new way to give collectors an opportunity to experience the painting and thought processes involved in creating art.

The studies are varied and include plein air sketches, sketchbook value studies, color inspirations, found objects, song lyrics, poems, and more. Each composition was designed and custom framed by Marla Hoppenstedt, member, local artist, and owner of Studio de Chene, Art and Framing Boutique. The studies are paired with their corresponding final artwork.

For the studio painting, each artist chose their own medium, substrate, and framing options. Both pieces of art are framed and hung together in this exhibit. All art, studies and final paintings, are available for purchase through Old State Capitol.
