The Zion National Park Plein Air Art Invitational is certainly one of the premier events in the nation, and the park recently announced its full schedule of events for 2017. Details here!

Zion National Park in Utah will soon be hosting 24 of the finest plein air artists in the nation for its 2017 Invitational, which takes place between November 6-12, 2017. More than 150 paintings completed throughout the week will go on sale at the Zion Human History Museum on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12. A portion of proceeds from the sale will benefit the Zion National Park Foundation to support important projects in the park including the successful Zion Youth Education Initiative, which creates opportunities to bring schoolchildren into the park and have a potentially life-changing experience.

For those lucky enough to attend, event organizers recently solidified their schedule of events, which has been published online here. A quick synopsis follows: On November 6 from 10am-4pm at the Human History Museum, several artists will be painting en plein air on the patio. They include Steve Stauffer, Michele Usibelli, William Wright, Joshua Been, Ellie Wilson, and Meredith Nemirov. The following day, November 7, the patio will be hosting artists Paula Swain, Kimbal Warren, John Lintott, Aaron Schuerr, William Scott Jennings, and Shanna Kunz. On Wednesday, November 8, the Grotto will open its series of artist demonstrations, which include James McGrew, George Handrahan, Suze Woolf, Bruce Gómez, Cody DeLong, and Gregory Stocks. At 7pm, Artist-in-Residence Lisa Gilley will be hosting a lecture at the Zion Lodge Auditorium. Demonstrations continue on Thursday at the Grotto with artists Bill Cramer, John D. Cogan, Michelle Condrat, Arlene Braithwaite, Mary Jabens, and J. Brad Holt. At 7:30pm at the Canyon Community Center, Parks Curator Joan Bacharach will host a lecture.

On Friday, November 10, the Human History Museum will be hosting an invite-only Purchase Award Reception. On Saturday, November 11, a Silent Auction and Paint Out & Sale can be found at the Zion Lodge and Great Lawn. Finally, on November 12, the Human History Museum will host its Art Exhibit & Sale.
